Production scripts

A recording script is the version the cast reads into a microphone rather than the version an animator draws from, and the difference shows on the page. Stage directions are written for a voice, and the trailer sequence that opened the broadcast is set out in full. At the head of Part Two of Darkbird somebody has written the session countdown in blue ink: beep at zero, picture at two seconds, music a third of a second after that. Six episodes survive here in that form.

Where these came from

These scans were contributed to the site. We are checking who supplied them before we print a name here, because a credit is worth getting right rather than getting fast. The files have been compressed for the web and given a text layer, so you can search inside the PDF.

The scripts are production documents from the 1986 Rankin/Bass series and remain the property of their rights holders. They are held here for research and study by members of this site.
